Vacuum drying equipment is used for batch operation processes and it removes water or removes and then recovers solvents from a moist material.
The equipment is also sometimes used to change a material's molecular and physical chemistry in specialised operations including chemical reactions.
In essence RVPD’s provide a rapid and consistent low temperature drying of press cake, filter cake and slurry materials that will require subsequent agitation.
The last process is the very important and critical "recovery of solvents during drying process in the RVPD"
The batch operation (which can be a limitation but is critical for vacuum drying) of the RVPD is simplified by automatically loading the wet product into the top of the jacket cylinder.
With the agitator rotating for uniform distribution, this will in turn produce the complete dry product which can then be safely discharged.
This Dryer consists of a cylindrical jacketed vessel with a central shaft and innovative agitator paddle/blades.
The agitator blades are prepared so they literally "scape" the entire internal surface and then in turn the material so that all the product media comes into contact with the heated inner surface consistently.
The RVPD shaft is supported on both ends of the dryer by high performance bearings and driven by an electric motor and gearbox.
Cooling and heating are provided through the jacket so that the sealed heat transfer media cannot come into contact with the process media.
The batch drying time is varied and relies on the nature and amount of the solvent present in the wet product.
The heating of the jacket will reduce the drying time considerably on most products.
RVPD's are capable of processing a wide range of processed materials from slurries to solid shapes, granular, crystalline or fibrous solids which include: -
