The Standard Group of Companies Work Station Equipment Options

The Standard Group of Companies is a leading supplier of equipment in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.

The Schematic Engineering Industries division manufacture varying types of workstation equipment, which include the following : -

  • Blending systems
  • Jet mill systems
  • Sieve systems
  • Multi Mill systems
  • Weighing systems

Blending systems

The Schematic Engineering Industries division has several blending product technologies to suit a range of applications.

Schematic isolator blending

A blender is a key piece of equipment in the pharmaceutical industry, as a medicine is manufactured by mixing several drugs and chemicals.

This mixing is required to be undertaken in either a dry or wet state, depending upon the chemical composition and the reactions that are allowed.

Blending takes one of two forms: -

  • Mechanical rotary blending
  • Gas blending

The end goal is to create a homogenous product of at least 2 powders, at least 2 liquids or at least 1 powder and 1 liquid.

Jet mill systems

Jet milling is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry and remains the leading technology for particle size reduction.

It is commonly used and easily has the most consistent results during all formulation processes.

The main advantage of a jet mill as opposed to other types of particle reduction equipment, is the fine milling size, typically 1 – 10 microns.

Additionally, there are no moving parts to wear out or generate heat in a jet mill.

Normally jet mills are used to mix multiple powders into a perfect homogeneous blend.

Sieve systems

A sieve is a fundamental and pivotal part of each pharmaceutical production process, particularly as product quality and integrity are vital.

Schematic Engineering Industries manufacture two types of polished 316 stainless steel sieves: -

  • Safety screening sieves

Safety screening sieving is done to ensure the correct product quality of powders, where the objective is to remove any over-sized contamination from the powder.

  • Grading sieves.

Grade sieving is done to ensure the correct sizing of powders or granules in the desired product.

Multi Mill systems

Multi Milling is widely used for wet and dry granulation / pulverization in Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Cosmetics, Ceramics, Colours, Dyestuff and Food products.

Schematic Engineering Industries manufacture Multi-Mill systems for all these applications.

When using a multi mill system in wet or dry conditions, they are also versatile for R&D and industrial laboratories, plus batch processing in fine and speciality chemical plants.

Weighing systems

One of the most crucial pieces of equipment being used in every pharmaceutical facility is the weighing equipment.

All ingredients that are used for manufacturing a pharmaceutical product must be weighed accurately so that the process media is not compromised, which could easily affect the quality of the product.

Schematic Engineering Industries supply digital weighing station designs which are mainly bench mounted.

All of the Standard Group of Companies workstation equipment are manufactured to cGMP standards, and where necessary can be automated taking into consideration cGAMP requirements.

Additionally, the Schematic Engineering Industries division supply all types of bespoke, custom made barrier isolators, therefore the full turnkey solution can be given to many clients.

Alternatively Schematic Engineering will provide the barrier isolator to support customer 3rd party equipment.

The barrier isolators can be either: -

  • +VE pressure or
  • -VE pressure

The operator advantages of using the Standard Groups workstation equipment include: -

  • Precise, repeatable, and accurate results
  • Clear visibility during operation and cleaning
  • Operator safe weighing environment
  • Homogeneous and consistent blended substances
  • Consistent particle size
