What is a Nauta Dryer and why have one

The Standard Group of Companies is a leading supplier of equipment in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.

In the S2 Engineering Services division, part of Standard Group, Nauta Dryers are designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned in many applications with bespoke or standard specifications.

This dryer is suitable for drying materials such as :-

  • Powders
  • Granules
  • Pastes
  • Viscous slurries

It works in a similar way as a conical mixer, where the primary mixing screw is inclined at the same angle as the cone wall, which then conveys the product from the bottom of the vessel to the surface.

As the material from the screw rises to the surface, a counterflow of downward material drops with gravity.

The speed of the downward media increases as the vessel diameter decreases thus resulting in a fast and intensive product mixing giving a homogenous product.

In many cases a vacuum can be used inside the dryer which allows vapour to be removed at low temperatures.

This makes the nauta dryer an excellent choice for drying heat-sensitive products.

The vapours are removed through a dust filter fitted on top of the vessel which will then prevent the dust from penetrating into the vacuum system.
